Read The Problem of Pain by C.S. Lewis on the way to work. Let’s see, the preface knocked me off my feet by merit of its language, and the introductory blew my mind away with one single concept which I am still ruminating over! It is marinating in my head! I think it’s enough of POP today. Actually, I still have 6 more minutes before the bell goes to torture my brain a little.

"The creature causes pain by being born, and live by inflicting pain, and in pain they mostly die… Man, yet another quality appears, which we call reason, whereby he is enabled to foresee his own pain which henceforth is preceded with acute mental suffering… Every now and then they improve their condition a little and what we call a civilisation appears… they inflict peculiar sufferings of their own probably sufficient to outweigh what alleviations they may have brought to the normal pains of man."

My random thoughts… Is life about responding to pain? Is this what is driving the circle of life? Jesus bore the pain not to take away our pain, but so that His pain will be like ours.
