heart
The heart is central to our existence. It holds the secrets to our souls, and minds. If God has placed the deepest longing in our hearts, we need to guard it from pollutants and harness our emotions before they run off the cliff like out-of-control wild horses strapped to a carriage, derailed by their very own energy and mis-direction, with the rider thrown off along the treacherous trail.
How does one unlock the secrets to our hearts? What does one do when we are gripped & shackled by the emotions of our hearts. What do we do when our will is held ransom by the very emotions that give us life (or so we think)? How do we harness emotions that we seemingly have no control over? Daily journey of surrender, of dying to self, of living under the lordship of God, of enduring the pain, of letting God guard our heart and mind? The evil one came to kill, steal and destroy. These crimes are insidious. Perhaps that is why the Bible tells us we need to guard our hearts. Not on our own strength but by the peace of God. Ph 4:7.
A thought occurred to me. Can the mind unlock the secret of our heart? Does it ease the sting of a wound? Over time it does. Then again, it depends on what good stewardship we display with the gift of time. We can only do so much, but God needs time to teach us some lessons what no earthly masters can impart to us. We can’t rationalize our feelings, but we certainly can rationalize our choices.
What choice do you make today with your burdens?
