Rock & Roll Again
There is something about being lost in corporate worship, being ushered into God’s presence effortlessly. There’s something about being lost in the huge crowd in the Rock auditorium where you are not known by anyone else. The only one who knows you there is well God. I was lost in worship, lifting my hands up, reaching out for and to Him, being led, into the secret place, between His mighty wings.
I attended the 4.15 p.m. service on my own (2nd service of the day) after lunch with friends at Marina. Insider information told me I could skip the queue (what a Q!) and headed for the first timer queue. Awesome!
-Pastor Lian, who had us in stitches, preached on Wisdom. What jumped at me was the punch line at the end. That God’s wisdom is not our Plan A or Plan B we can strategise.
Other points:
-Submission is involved in wisdom.
-Wisdom is not a quality to cultivate but God is our wisdom (huh???). She went on to expound, “We are fools. God will not give wisdom to the foolish. But God will become wisdom unto the foolish.” This wisdom will change our attitudes and desires.
-The wise understands that in distress, they should cry out to God, and he will deliver them (Ps 107).
-It’s not about sanitizing the environment, but raising champions.
-Pastor Lian quoted James 3:17
But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy.
My reflections:
We may not always fully comprehend God’s ways. The only thing we can be certain of is God’s incomprensibility, the mystery of His ways. His wisdom will bring peace. May not be the easiest thing to do but the peace that comes with a painful but wise decision will guard our hearts. When we cry out to God, He will deliver us. We will learn of His full lovingkindness. As I sat there listening to Ps Lian, it occurred to me that God’s wisdom is always on time. Father I want a greater measure of your wisdom. Be my wisdom. I don’t want to be my own Holy Spirit.
What a difference a day makes!
