The One?

Does The One or My Type exist?

I tend to think otherwise. It’s illusive. If there is The One or My Type, most people will not be married.
Instead of focusing on the search for The One or My Type (the problem), we should focus on simply being _____________ (the solution).

God’s Secret Purpose

From Elizabeth Elliot’s Devotion, A Lamp for my Feet
"I know of no more steadying hope on which to focus my mind when circumstances tempt me to wonder why God doesn’t "do something." He is always doing something–the very best thing, the thing we ourselves would certainly choose if we knew the end from the beginning. He is at work to bring us to our full glory."

Pull not Push

Marina Mandarin meant it when its glass door says PULL! Well like any true-blue human being who does the opposite of what signs say I of course PUSHED that door! Owww! The jerk I felt from my wrist to my elbow!

It’s like this isn’t it. We find the need to rebel, or do things differently. I wonder why.

Indication

Clarity is indication! Not confusion! HULLO!

Decluttering

I am starting to declutter. Again! Have to chuck things that do not work (e.g. my pretty black heels that constantly give me blisters), things I hardly used anymore (that glass jar, that little black cotton dress), and things that are better used elsewhere in someone else’s hands (books that that I don’t read anymore).

Be ruthless and chuck it!

trouble-free life

Ps Joshua’s message set me thinking about a trouble-free life

We don’t pray for a trouble-free life. This is perhaps not in line with God’s will. He did say our lives will be far from trouble-free as long as we are in the world. So yes Lois Lane, the world does need a Saviour!

Only in Him can we find peace.

How then should we pray in a trouble-filled world? How then should we approach a trouble-filled world?

my model

Elizabeth Elliot for a while has been my role model. Unfortunately, I find my attempts at modelling her expression of faith futile and I ended being more frustrated than I’ve begun, and as a result, feeling discouraged. "Her standard is just too high! I can’t do what she does!" I exclaimed to a friend. "It’s impossible!"

Then it hit me! I can’t ride on her vision of God. Her vision of God is a personal revelation. She caught the vision as God revealed Himself to her. I think our faith in God strengthens as we catch a greater vision of God. Certainly it’s not by our own works that we can reach God. It has always been that God reaches out to us first. It’s not the size of our faith nor its strength.

Open my eyes Lord that I can see more of You today.

20/20

If our eyes continually look to God, "where got time" to focus on our own self-centred goals, and/or trying to reason or justify our predicaments as to why they happen. If they happen for a reason, and happen under the watchful eyes and guiding hands of God, we can know that things happen to fall into a grander scheme of things. Doesn’t it make more sense then to take our anxieties and confusion to God?

$1000

Ps Joshua did this to a $1000 note:

crumpled it

spitted on it

stepped on it

dugged his heel into it

sat on it

Then he asked, who wants this $1000 note?

A powerful demonstration of our value!
