HEEL!

Watching Owen subdue the Siberian Husky who was taking advantage of the rest of the family members was awesome. For one, this dog really knew who to take advantage of. His eyes were affixed on Owen, moving when Owen moved, undistracted by the nearby sweet little female cocker spaniel.

I got some tips from the class and came home and started working away on Feisty Freckles and Obedient Orli. I must say, if I didn’t want to lose my voice, I should save for an e-collar for Freckles! What a pricey collar it would be! Orli was a dream to train though! So in sync with me. After our walk-jog-heel routine, we went for a run around the playground tonight! I am sure if he could laugh like I do, we would both be running and laughing on the top of our lungs. Took him on the slide before we headed home. He was off-leash and heeling on our way home! :-) I am a proud dog-mum!

I could live in a nicer place if not for the dogs. But I love my dogs and wouldn’t trade them for anything in the world!

Front Row & Socks

I LOVE MY IMAC!! Particularly Front Row! While in bed as I woke up this morning, I reached my hand over for the remote control (iMac comes with 1 YES!), hit the play button, and was serenaded by Marti Webb as I hid under the comforter watching the dogs wrestle each other, with a blissful smile on my face, laughing to myself as they tumbled and rumbled with each other wearing a silly grin on their own faces. This blissful moment was broken when I saw what they were tugging!! My Reebok socks!! hahaha! They brought the socks to me as requested, only because they thought I wanted to join in the game! hahaha! I love my dogs. I looove loooove loooove my dogs!

WOWO

WOWO! This is how Freckles sounds like when she barks in excitement when playing with Orli. It got annoying tonight as I tapped furiously away at my keyboard finishing up my paper. I repeatedly disciplined her, when I finally told her off, "Freckles, STOP barking! Don’t you understand English!!" HAHAHA! Obviously she doesn’t! Occupational hazard! Mine, that is.

Orli

Orlando, who is blooming, is my dog. He is an active, affectionate (to the point of promiscuity), and faithful dog (except when he finds a smaller dam he can hump). He is the clown between the 2 of them.
Last night while he was asleep in his bed, he was awokened by a sound outside our windows. I think it was the barking of a dog across the street. It was pretty faint but he picked it up in his sleep. He immediately sprang to action and barking like a macho-dog would. But being the scaddy-cat, he ran over to me, hid under legs for cover. I looked down and laughed at him, and told him he’s the silliest dog in the world, and that everything was ok. If you’ve seen Orli before, you would understand why I laughed at him. He has a perpetual guilty look, and when he’s afraid, he looks desperately cute.
I reflected on the incident and saw a parallel. Who do we run to when we are afraid? Who do we put our trust when we are plagued with uncertainty? Who do we cast our cares to when our hopes are dashed? Orli may not understand it when i told him everything’s ok, especially when his instincts were kicked in, and firing up, to display an alert typical of dogs. He didn’t let his instincts rule him but subjected them to my leadership as his Alpha. I deeply appreciate his trust in me. His trust pleases me.
We are blessed with intelligence but even geniuses cannot touch God if they have no faith in God’s higher ways. How can finite beings ever fully understand an infinite Being? We can never totally comprehend the ways of God. When God convicts our hearts to trust Him, let’s simply trust Him. Abandon our fears and pains at the altar, and not take it back. Quieten our hearts. So that we can hear Him when He speaks words of comfort to us. How we feel has no bearing on God’s sovereignty. He’s still in charge. He’s still on His throne.
Footnote:
Orli is lying in his bed, chin on the wall of the bed, reposing but his gaze is ever on me. He’s such a darling.
